An Impression in the Sand ... and in Customers' Minds
Telecom Case Study
Background and Objective:
The Telecom team were off to a conference in Hawaii
where they were meeting customers from other telecommunications companies in
the Pacific islands, America
and Asia. Telecom is renowned for doing gifts
that are a little different; wind-up toy kiwis, bungee sheep, chocolate fish,
luggage straps, bouncing LED balls, and miniature cricket bat and ball sets, to
name a few. Some of their customers travel a lot, so Telecom likes to do gifts
that are simply too much fun to leave at the hotel.
Jandals came about when Telecom's Communications Manager
Fiona Keene was in a souvenir shop and saw some that had a New Zealand theme. The team decided
to have logos cut out of the soles so 'Telecom' impressions would be left
behind in the sand. What a fun way to spread the brand!
Telecom's 2009/10
business plan was called “Can Do” so for the staff gifts they used a 'No.8
wire' theme for the men’s jandal and a 'passion for our customer’s' passion
flower motif for the women - a little something for the staff that was fun and
practical too.
After the conference Fiona emailed us here at seeit to say "Just want to let you know that the jandals have gone down a treat with staff, though our team in London haven’t found much use for them yet! The customers that we are giving them to think they are great! Thanks so much."

Our Response:
We played with a number of ideas before settling on promotional coasters that could be given away to clubs in the target demographic.
What better way to reach the market in a non-threatening yet effective way?
We rang around the clubs and pubs in the relevant areas to get the quantities required and produced thousands of high quality coasters matched to Clarity's green.
Client Profile: Simply Strategic represented by Dr Lynley McMillan. Simply Strategic are a Tauranga based business who have been coaching Senior Executives with Leadership and Strategy for 20 years. See us at www.simplystrategic.comClient Request: Our client was looking for USB drives and quality pens to give out at 18 seminars to be held this year in New Zealand.
Our Response: We presented a range of USB and pen options with the client choosing BIC Sheaffer pens in gift boxes. The pens were all engraved with recipient's individual names on them and the boxes were branded "Simply Strategic". The USB drives were developed to resemble a chess piece which is consistent with the client's overall branding strategy. We matched these to the client's PMS colour requirements and arranged for the website address to be placed on the USB as well.
Timeframes: the initial meeting with Dr Lynley McMillan was on 30 January, with several visuals being sent prior to sign off on a pre-production sample for the USBs on 12 February. Delivery was set for 27 February so that data could be preloaded onto the USB drives prior to the first event - that said, delivery was achieved on 24 February, so three days earlier than initially required (note that we can have data pre-loaded onto the USB drives at time of manufacture with two options - either pre-loaded for permanent storage/access on the USB or pre-loaded with a 'delete' function so that the USB can be cleared and fully utilised by the recipient).
Result: "We appreciate your delivery before timeframe, and the final product is of superb quality. While we seldom respond to such requests, we think you really deserve the opportunity to use our project for your marketing." Dr Lynley McMillan, Leadership Consultant, Simply Strategic.
Client Request: In late January 2009 Cadbury approached us wanting t-shirts, rugby jerseys, bags, stickers, caps and lanyards for a conference they were holding on the 26th of February in Rotorua. Result: "Thank you so much for all of your hard work. Everyone loved their bags, caps, t-shirts, jerseys and lanyards and stickers. Please find enclosed a little chocolate to share with your staff." Louissa Rust, Cadbury.
The Open Wananga is the distance learning
Having recently rebranded we needed something different to include in our launch packs - something the students would enjoy and connect with, and something that would get our brand out into the public arena.
Why we chose a product from seeit:
We choose the jandals from seeit because of the quality of the sole, timeliness (Brian could meet our deadline) and the ability to print on the strap. The soles have our logo cut into them so they leave an imprint wherever people walk.
They look fantastic and we’re so happy with the quality. Thank you seeit!
Sarona Samuelu, The Open Wananga
Client Request: Following a visit to our website, a representative from the Health Sponsorship Council contacted us to find out more about branded glow sticks for a Smokefree Event being held in Wellington. Time was tight and the product needed to be sourced from off-shore.
